The site was included within a proposal of a 3,000 home allocation in the previous draft of the RSS Policy HMA2, Swindon HMA. Since then, that plan has now been revoked. The site could come forward independently for circa 180 homes, or as part of a wider 1400 home settlement.
The most relevant development plan is the Wiltshire Core Strategy Development Plan Document, adoped in 2015. The adopted document confirms that Wiltshire & Swindon have a strong & significant cross-border relationship. Thus, to conduct a thorough and extensive planning analysis of the site, both plans have to be assessed.
Wiltshire are currently preparing their local plan, with an adoption in Q4 2023. Swindon are in a similar position, aiming to adopt their plan in Q4 2024. The Council have a sub 5-year housing supply (4.72 years) and any further slippages could provide a good opportunity to pursue delivery of the site through the development management process.
